Boulder Ridge Day
Camp is owned and operated by The Ebner Family. With over 200 years
of combined camping experience, three generations of Ebners have been
operating residential summer camps, Camp
Awosting for Boys since 1948 and Camp
Chinqueka for Girls since 1955. The Ebners bought the facility
formerly known as "The Village" in 2003 to start Boulder Ridge Day
Camp, hoping to offer a day camping experience similar to their 2
residential camps that have been so successful for the past 50+ years.
Kevin Ebner,
Co-Director,
is one of 7 grandchildren of the late Oscar Ebner Sr. and
Virginia Ebner, who bought Camp Awosting in 1948 and founded Camp
Chinqueka in 1955. He became the Director and Facility Manager of Boulder
Ridge when his family purchased the facility in 2003. Having grown up at
Camp Awosting, Kevin brings over 35 years of camping experience to Boulder
Ridge Day Camp. Despite his many years of experience Kevin attends camp
conferences and workshops throughout the off season and is a member of the
Connecticut and American Camp Associations. In addition to his
responsibilities at camp he and his wife Liz run banquets, company outings
and other special events on the weekends from April to October.
Kate Tucci,
Co-Director,
has been working at
Boulder Ridge for five years as a part of its administrative staff. As a
teen, Kate attended girl scout and church camps and was a camp counselor
and arts & crafts supervisor at Brentwood Presbyterian Church in
Pittsburgh, PA. Kate studied theatre at Muskingum College and filled her
summers by stage managing at Pittsburgh Musical Theatre’s Summer Musical
Program. She continues to use her theatre skills and passion in the camp
off season by stage managing for the Young Actor Series at the Warner
Theatre Center for Arts Education. Kate furthers her camp education
annually by attending conferences and workshops by the American &
Connecticut Camp Associations, to both of which she is a member and
volunteer. She is a certified camp director, as dictated by the American
Camp Association’s standards. Kate currently resides in Morris, CT with
her husband, Chris (the director of Camp Awosting), and her newborn baby
son, Hyatt.
Nicole Kelley,
Camp Coordinator,
has been working
for the Ebner family full time since 2003. As a child & teen, Nicole
attended camps run by Harwinton, Torrington and the Girl Scouts, and was
also a counselor for Harwinton’s Summer Program. During her college
years she spent several summers working with the Torrington YMCA in
their summer programs for disadvantaged teens and with the Literacy
Volunteers. In addition to being the Camp Coordinator for Boulder Ridge
Nicole utilizes her Degrees in Accounting and Computer Science as the
year round office manager and bookkeeper for all three Ebner Camps.
Ebner Camps, Inc was
recently honored by the UCONN
Family Business Program as one of the nine 2006
CT Family Business of the Year Awards Finalists .
