Program Overview
Days
at Boulder Ridge are exciting and filled with activities and choices.
Each session, campers are placed in small groups based on their age and
grade with at least one counselor.
The Boulder Ridge Day Camp program is designed with the age and
development of each child in mind, providing a balance of physical and
non-athletic activities.
In
the mornings, groups will have the opportunity to try several activities
with their groups, and by the end of a session, each camper will have
tried each activity a couple times. Campers grades preK-5 have swim
lessons daily in our heated inground pool; campers grades 6-8 have
the option of signing up for these daily lessons. After a yummy
lunch with their group, most campers will have the opportunity to
participate in activities that they have chosen for the afternoon.
During this time, the youngest campers will stay with their groups for
additional activities, rest time, or free play
Each
program area has activities planned for each age group based on their
development and their skills. While a little
rain won’t dampen our plans, when severe weather forces us indoors, we
take advantage of our 12,000 sq. ft. of indoor space.
Additionally, super hot days will give us an excuse to play more water
games and wet activities at camp!
Our sessions also include off-camp trips, outside entertainment, and
special events!
Special Events and Trips
We
feature spectacular special events, some found only at BRDC! These
include:
-
Boulder Ridge Parents' Nights:
Come meet the BRDC staff, try out some activities with your campers,
and enjoy a cookout. These are held on the 2nd Wednesday
evening of each session.
-
Water & Wheels at Camp Awosting:
(5th grade+)
Groups of campers go to Bantam Lake and choose from exciting new
activities, including water skiing, sailing, boating, a
watertrampoline, and go-karting.
-
Boulder Battle
Session 4 culminates in a battle between the Red Rocks, Blue
Boulders and Green Granite! All age groups will be able to compete in
both individual and group contests to earn points for their team.
-
Boulder Ridge Sleepovers:
(4th grade+)
Twice a summer, campers are invited to spend the night! We’ll have a
camp fire, special camp games, and sleep in tents under the stars.
The sleepovers will take place after parents’ nights during 1st
and 4th session.
- Farmington
River Tubing:
(5th grade+)

Take a tubing trip down the Farmington River with your friends.
Lifeguards will be present and life jackets are required.
-
Theme Days:
Celebrate our weekly themes by dressing up and participating in
camp-wide activities!
-
Outside Entertainment:
Every now and then, a magician, a clown, or a live game show makes its
way to the BRDC stage!
All off site trips are optional and require permission slips. Campers who choose
not to attend these trips will follow the normal daily schedule at camp. Above
grade requirements refer to the grade campers will be entering Fall 2010.
